As India signed the well-known "Panchsheel" to advance Indo-China relations in 1954 and pushed for China's UN membership, the relations with China have seen supportive actions from India. However, after 1957, a number of difficult topics in Indo-China relations emerged:
1. A military conflict over the MacMohan Line border dispute in 1962 led to China making unjustified claims that are now in Arunachal Pradesh and the Aksai Chin region of Ladakh.
2. Disagreements developed as a result of India's protests against China following the Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1950.
3. Following Panchsheel, China attacked India in 1962 in order to occupy more of its territory, which resulted in humiliation.
4. Conflicts also arose as a result of China's support for Pakistan's nuclear programme.5. India perceived China's military ties with Bangladesh and Myanmar as hostile to its interests.
For greater cooperation, all of the aforementioned differences and disputes could be settled as follows:
1. Both nations should put forth more effort to patch up their friendship attitudes.
2. Both nations should work together to combat terrorism, the nuclear arms race, and economic inequality.
3. Mutual respect and understanding should grow between the two nations.
4. As a result, they both signed agreements to cooperate in science and technology and exchange cultures.
