The following list outlines SAARC's role:
1. Since 1985, South Asian states have worked together through the "South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation" (SAARC) to advance regional cooperation.
2. It has seven members to promote communication and cooperation between them.
3. SAFTA (South Asian Free Trade Agreement) was started by SAARC to create free trade zones for all of south Asia for a shared sense of economic security.
4. In order to lessen its member states' reliance on external powers, SAARC has projected economic growth for its members.Limitations: SAARC is growing slowly due to political differences among its member states—
1. Only the conflicts led to bilateral issues as Kashmir problem between India and Pak.
2. Some of the India’s neighbours fear that India intends to dominate them by influencing their societies and politics.
3. SAARC members are from among the developing or least developing countries which creates insufficiency of funds.
