Question

Find the average speed of a car which travels the first 30 km at a speed of 40 km/h and the remaining 20 km at a speed of 60 km/h?

Solution

Car travels 30 km at a speed of 40 km/h and the next 20 km at the speed of 60 km/h. Average speed of the car will be calculated as: travel time = (30/40)+(20/60) = 0.75+0.33 =1.08 Average speed total distance/time = 50/1.08 =46.08 km/h
