Autotrophic nutrition means the organisms are able to produce the food on its own. Plants and certain bacterias are capable of combining simple inorganic substances into complex organic ones capable of sustaining life. The energy is needed in this process. An organism which can carry out this method of nutrition is said to be autotrophic which means self-feeding. There are two types of autotrophic nutrition, chemosynthesis and photosynthesis.
