Hard

Solution

(i) Inundation canals are long canals taken off from large rivers. They receive water when the river water is high and especially when in flood. It remains operational during rainy season, such canals are used for irrigation. (ii) Harvested rain water can be stored in sub-surface ground, water reservoir. The rainwater needs to flow through small filtration well then into storage tanks. This method of rain water harvesting is simple, cost effective and easy to maintain. (iii) The surface water harvesting includes all the systems that collect and conserve surface run off water after rainstorm. This water will be collected in nearby ponds, streams and reservoirs. This can be used for household purpose, livestocks and aquaculture.
