Question

How the silk is formed by caterpillars?
Medium

Solution

The caterpillars are the young form of the silk moth also known as silkworms. They have been used to make silk for thousands of years. When the caterpillars modify into adult moths, they cover themselves in a cocoon (protective covering) of raw silk. This is produced from the caterpillar’s salivary glands.
