Question

It takes 6 minutes for the signal sent by an artificial satellite orbiting around the earth to reach the ground station. Calculate the distance of the artificial satellite from the ground station. The signal travels with the speed of light. (3 x 10⁸m/s).
Medium

Solution

Time taken by signal to reach the ground station : 6 minute To find:- Distance of artificial satellite from ground station Solution: - 1 minute = 60 second 6 minute = 6 x60 = 360 second So the Distance = Speed x Time ( speed of the light = 3 x 10⁸ m /sec The signal travel at this speed Distance = 360 x 3 x 10⁸ = 1080 x 10⁸ metres
