One male gamete forms a zygote by fusing with the egg cell, whilst the second male gamete forms endosperm by fusing with two polar nuclei in the embryo sac. iii. Double fertilisation is a term used to describe the process of two male gametes fertilising the same embryo sac in flowering plants.
