(c)Exosmosis

When a cell is held in a hypertonic solution and the solvent travels out of the cell, the cell contracts away from the cell wall, causing exosmosis. When the cell is in a hypotonic solution, the opposite occurs. This is referred to as cytolysis or deplasmolysis.
