Spring constant of a spring is k = 6x10³ N/m. Calculate the work done to stretch it by 1 cm.
Easy
Solution
Spring constant k = 6×10³ N/m
x=1cm=0.01 m
Work done in stretching the spring = acquired potential energy
= 1/2 kx²
= 1/2 x 6 x 10³N/m x (0.01m)²
= 0.3 J
Therefore 0.3J work will have to be done to stretch the sprign by I cm.
