Question

If an iron nail is immersed in the aqueous solution of copper sulphate, what are the changes happening to the nail and to the solution?
Easy

Solution

A displacement reaction occurs when an iron nail is immersed in aqueous copper sulphate solution. Fe displaces Cu from copper sulphate solution, resulting in ferrous sulphate production and copper deposition in the iron nail. The blue solution turns pale green, and copper metal deposits over the iron nail in a reddish brown colour.
