Explain the reasons for the students’ movement of 1974 in Bihar and role played by Jaya Prakash Narain in this movement.

(i) In Bihar, students gathered in March 1974 to protest rising costs, food scarcity, unemployment, and corruption. They chose Jaya Prakash Narayan (JP), a former active politician who now works in social services, to lead the student movement. As a result, the student movement took on a political tone and gained national traction. The movement currently includes people from many walks of life.
(ii) In Bihar, Jaya Prakash Narayan urged the expulsion of the Congress government and called for a comprehensive revolution in the social, economic, and political realms to establish what he considered true democracy.
(iii) In protest of the Bihar administration, a series of bandhs, gheraos, and strikes were planned.
